I'm going to base this thread off of Fang's thread because it is locked, otherwise I would type what I'm about to in there. Anyways, here goes....

Why is a simple movie reference, check that, a movie reference from a great Tarantino film under such scrutiny? You don't even see anyone in the media claiming any offense to that, and they are as ridiculous as it gets when it comes to political correctness.

I am 100% with Fang on this one, he should be upset about being kicked, and that has nothing to do with his religious heritage. I for one do not look at race as I see it as a completely man-made concept, thus I perceive race as only real because humans made it to be real and think of it as real. What I'm saying is that race is artificial. And I can even prove this to you if you really want me to. But that's for a private message or later on in the thread pending it doesn't get jacked by someone.

Anyway, to the real point I am trying to drive home. From what I read, why did nobody ask the reason as to why he had his name the way he had it? And why is it that people are sooo sensitive about sooo many things that they have to try and flaunt authority just because they can? I'm tired of reading things in the clan forums that are so dramatic. At what point does it become more than just the games we play and trying to have fun? Now I know server rules says to the effect of "No Racism." But really, who was the name hurting? Is it too much to ask for some to look the other way on something so small? Especially with a regular player in the servers?

I mean, I will agree that there is a general unspoken idea of doing something out of respect to the others in the server, but that should go two ways as in this case: There must be some sort of reason why he has his name like that. Anyone care to ask him? I obviously wasn't anywhere near the server. I was probably out at a party or in MW2 (which has it's own problems...). Either way, why is it that people seem to be so sensitive about things these days?

And again with the deletion of posts.... People should have to own up to what they say and post on here. No free passes unless the author deletes the post. If you have to delete a post then maybe you should have thought twice or three times about writing it in the first place.

Normally I would come up with a better argument or a better comment but I just don't care to read into it all the way and spend more time on this.

Oh I know, but no one is allowed to have one here according to some folks. I am all for opinions. I personally dont see a problem with his question or his opinion but I dont flex my admin muscles that much

okay the thread is un-locked. guys admins arn't actually supposed to be going around locking threads on a whim, a senior is, or you have to have permission from a senior.

okay look guys, i don't want another blow out of people rampageing on eachother like the last thread. it comes down to that the name did offend people, even a senior said to not have the name on our servers. so just don't use names that you know will cause problems and stop fighting with eachother cause it's not worth it in the end.

If you read my post, I said that if he would have repeated where it was from (he said it, but as I said, his mic failed and I didn't hear him, plus I never saw that film). So if he would have repeated it I would have understood and in all likelihood wouldn't have had a problem going forward. Also, overall I wasn't offended, I just didn't know what Bear Jew meant or was from, so I just was nipping it in the bud by asking for a name change.

Now can we let this go, because it's gotten blow out of proportion over a simple kick that I didn't even do, an actual admin did.

What is not being realized here is that the main reason as to why I put this thread out there is all of the dramatic threads in the past that got blown out of proportion. Which is exactly what I was trying to see would happen if i typed that. And from what I can tell it was about to.

Every time someone puts a thread that is a bit iffy or says or does something opinionated that has the potential to "offend others" people more than often will immediately bash others instead of hold their tongue, which looks to be the current trend toward me though indirectly at the moment.

The underlying message of my thread all along is: Just breathe. They are just words.

Unless they directly attack you. Then there really is a problem.

I agree.

Of all the forums I've been on, and as being an admin of my clan forums, I've rarely seen locked threads. Personally, I never lock any threads aside from the roster threads. If members have problems, they work it out, and in the end, they become more mature and understanding.
